If you just wish to use lwpp for your LightWave 3D projects you will require a fairly good knowledge of the LightWave 3D SDK as well as basic knowledge of C++.
While lwpp uses some more advanced C++ functionality (such as templates), you are usually not directly confronted with it.
To extend lwpp you should have a thorough grasp of the concepts behind C++. Knowledge of templates, exceptions, operator overloading, virtual functions, virtual base classes and inheritance are a great plus.
A thorough understanding of the LightWave 3D SDK and the mechanisms behind it help as well.
